Auditions for Bard in the Burbs‘ upcoming production of Shakespeare’s As You Like It, directed by Ken Kaden & Sean Ogren, are set for Sunday, February 17th from 6:00pm to 10:00pm, with callbacks Monday, February 18th @ 7:00pm at:

Please note that this show is non-equity and there is no pay.
Performances for As You Like It will take place from Friday May 3rd thru Sunday May 12th
- Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00 p.m.
- Sundays at 7:00 p.m.
Rehearsals will be held Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings.
Auditions will consist of one Shakespearean monologue of your choice, 1 to 2 minutes long. Callbacks will consist of scenes from the play. To sign up for auditions, please send a request titled “As You Like It Audition” to to auditions@bardintheburbs.org.

The following roles are available for color-blind casting:
Orlando male | 20-30 |
the good-hearted and compassionate son of Sir Rowland de Boys. Under his brother’s neglectful care, has languished without proper education or training, but still believes in his own potential. He flees to the forest to avoid being murdered by his brother Oliver. Pines for Rosalind. |
Oliver male | 20-40 |
eldest son of Sir Rowland de Boys. Hates his young brother, Orlando. He is reformed by the end of the play, and even finds love. |
Adam male | 50-80 |
former servant of Sir Rowland de Boys. Accompanies young master Orlando to the forest. He is a model of loyalty and devoted service. |
Celia female | 20-35 |
the daughter of Duke Frederick and Rosalind’s dearest friend. She risks her own safety and family security by accompanying Rosalind into the forest. She has a loving heart, good humor, and is prone to deep, sometimes excessive emotions. |
Touchstone male | any age |
a fool or court jester who accompanies Rosalind and Celia in their flight to the forest. Hilariously unromantic and bawdy, he exposes the follies of life through his wit. |
Duke Frederick male | 40-70 |
the brother of Duke Senior and usurper of his throne. He is brutal, harsh, moody, and manipulative. |
Duke Senior male | 40-70 |
the banished Duke and father of Rosalind. He lives in exile in the forest with a number of loyal men. Kind and fair-minded, he finds the good in his exile and the freedom of court corruption. |
Jaques male | 30-70 |
while a quick witted and shrewd observer, he is also hopelessly melancholy. He is one of the lords who accompanies Duke Senior into exile. |
Lord Amiens male | 30-70 |
a faithful lord who accompanies Duke Senior into the forest. Must be able to carry a tune. Playing a stringed instrument (such as a guitar, ukulele, lute, etc.) would be beneficial but is not required. |
Charles male | 20-35 |
a wrestler in Duke Frederick’s court. He is both caring and politically savvy. |
Silvius male | 20s |
an endearing young shepherd desperately in love with Phoebe |
Phoebe female | 20-35 |
a young shepherdess with a sarcastic edge who disdains the affections of Silvius. While dismissing Silvius, she falls in love with Ganymede, who is really Rosalind in disguise. |
Audrey female | any age |
a sassy, but simpleminded goatherd who agrees to marry Touchstone despite the fact that the she understands very little of what he says |
Le Beau male | 20-35 |
a humorous, gossipy courtier in Frederick’s court. He is well-versed in doing what is right. |
Sir Oliver Martext male | any age |
a country vicar who is not considered to do his job well |
Corin male or female | 20-35 |
a fellow shepherd and friend of Silvius who attempts to counsel him in the ways of love. Serves as a country courtier in the forest. |
